Nicolas Hénard : « Je suis candidat à la présidence de la FF Voile ! » Le nom de ce grand gaillard aussi blond que brillant, né à Calais, marié père de cinq enfants, n’est pas aussi connu que ceux de Cammas, Pajot, Peyron Desjoyeaux ou Gabart. Pourtant, Nicolas Hénard a été double champion olympique de Tornado en 1988 à Séoul avec Jean-Yves Le Déroff (depuis quelques mois directeur de l’ENVSN), puis en 1992 à Barcelone avec Yves Loday. À 52 ans, après de longues années dans les plus hautes instances de la FF Voile, il a décidé de se présenter à la présidence en mars 2017 pour succéder à Jean-Pierre Champion, qui se retire après 20 ans et cinq mandats. Pendant un cycle complet, on observe la phase croissante et la phase décroissante de la Lune. Durant la phase croissante, on distingue la nouvelle Lune, le premier croissant, le premier quartier et la Lune gibbeuse croissante. En 1989 et 1990, K VIII, alors sous les couleurs de "Dix de Lyon", participait á la Transmanche Aber Wrac'h - PLymouth - Aber Wrac'h (220 nm) et l'emportait en 24h04'04'' et 21h41'36''. 25 ans plus tard grâce à la constitution d'un équipage amateur mais habitué aux régates, membres de l'UASG (Union Athlétique Société Générale, section Voile), Cap au Cap Location et son skipper Wilfrid Clerton ont pu prendre le départ de cette édition et accomplir une très belle course leur permettant de terminer 1er. Les conditions météo furent idéales à l'aller avec un vent établi aux alentour de 20-23 noeuds (pointes á 28 noeuds) la nuit de vendredi 13 Mai á samedi14 Mai, mais mollissant, après le contournent du brise-vagues de Plymouth (vers 10h30 am le samedi), à 14-16 noeuds puis 10-12 noeuds vers 19h. Après une année 2014-2015 placée sous le signe des traversées de l'Atlantique dans les deux sens (seul (Route du Rhum 2014), historique avec l'Hermione et La Fayette,  accompagnateur sécurité de la mini transat 650, en équipage restreint (Transatlantique Retour Route Nord Dec 2015), .l'année 2016 sera celle des courses de prestige et du revival K VIII (Armen Race, Transmanche, Trophée SNSM,...) Le convoyage de KVIII vers la Trinité sur Mer ce weekend du 1er Mai fut musclée avec 35 noeuds de vents mais finalement faiblissant dans la nuit. Même le vent a respecté le 1er Mai.  Le bateau est arrivé à bon port et est prêt pour le départ de l'Amen Race ce jeudi 5 Mai. An historical sailing experience Departure Friday evening (5 February 2016) from Paris by car to Le Havre, Marina. After 2 hours driving, on board and left the Marina for a night sailing towards Ouistreham and Caen. The goal was to cross the Baie de Seine before the forecasted bad weather. Perfect timing and night wind of 18 knots. After a sailing trip of 4 hours, and being careful leaving La Baie de Seine and Le Havre (some cargos entering or leaving with or without pilot boats), we entered Ouistreham at 00.30 am and moored at the inner harbour for the night. Having informed the bridge officer, we sailed towards Caen, crossing the Pegasus bridge. (see 2nd WW). Essential boat checks for the start of the season | Boats and Outboards : Winterisation is key and various types of maintenance are undertaken during winter on many vessels. Here is a simplified check list of what to do before venturing into the new boating season. Responsible boat owners will be well aware that a degree of maintenance is essential before launching a boat back on the water for the coming season. Our friends at A.S.A.P. Supplies have provided this great technical check-list to remind motor boat owners what needs attention at this time of year.     As your boat comes out of storage with the arrival of spring, you need to first check it over for any damage that may make it unsafe to use.   Equipment on board should also be carefully inspected and tested. Here is a simplified check list of what to do before venturing into the new boating season.   IMPELLERS Check your impellers for hidden cracks / splits. Pull the blades apart to check thoroughly.  

And the winners are : ...... Miroslav, Pawel, Eric : dream team ! XI  ZBP Regatta in Ilawa  (Mazuria, Poland). We were sailing for the first time together : Czech, Polish and French. A Pure international `team of amateurs inventing during the night before the regatta their own common langage...I tried to find a dictionary of sailing words translated in the 3 langages : a dream. Finally, a mix of polish, french and english words were agreed. A challenge during the legs to be sure to understand the messages and act quickly. It belongs also to the sailing experience and makes it unforgettable.

XIII Sailing Regatta organised by ZBP. I had the chance to attend 3 times the ZBP (Association of the Polish Banks) regatta on monotype Open Sailing Boats Omega. It takes place at the end of September in Mazuria (region of the big lakes, North East of Poland). Mazuria is a wonderful sailing area to discover after the summer time : peaceful, green and water, beautiful hotels with swimming pools, small harbours,....to try. The XIII ZBP regatta was organized in September 2015, from Friday to Saturday. Preparation of the boat after lottery. There were 20 teams of polish banks. As noticed, it's important to wear the colors of the Group : Black and Red, of course. the red brothers (from Poland) ! The Flying boom : the human being can adapt quickly.
